Merry Christmas from Mercy Hospital

This Christmas season, CHI Mercy Hospital employees wanted to help families in our community who are less fortunate.  The Hospital worked with the St. Vincent DePaul Society to identify two families and two elderly individuals to sponsor by purchasing Christmas gifts and providing a Christmas meal.  Hospital employees generously came together to pick mittens off of a Christmas tree to buy Christmas gifts for all family members and also signed up to bring food items so the families would be able to enjoy a wonderful Christmas meal together.  Pictured are CHI Mercy Hospital employees giving the donated items to Pius Kraft and Jill Hanson from the St. Vincent DePaul Society.

Reflections of Love Tree Lighting Ceremony

We invite you to join friends and family in attending the 18th Annual Mercy Hospice Reflections of Love Tree Lighting Ceremony. The Remembrance Service begins at 5:30 p.m. on December 12, 2013 at Mercy Hospital with refreshments, caroling, the ceremony and tree lighting.

We thank you for your past contributions and once again invite you to support Mercy Hospice by purchasing a light “In Memory of”, “In Honor of”, “Prayers for”, or “Greetings to”, for a special someone. Proceeds from the Reflection of Love Tree are used to offset the expenses incurred by the Mercy Hospice Program. Often Medicare or private insurance reimbursement does not traditionally cover all the expenses incurred with patient care.  Medicare has several different levels of reimbursement, with rural ND services receiving the lowest reimbursement. Our Mercy Hospice staff travel many miles to see patients at home, we buy from smaller pharmacies, and pay higher costs for delivery of durable medical equipment, thus creating a financial shortfall. Hospice bereavement services are often provided for a full 13 months after the death of a patient, but there is no source of financial reimbursement for these services. Mercy Hospice program greatly appreciates the continued donations, memorials, fundraisers and grants. Our trees will shine brighter this year due to the generous contribution from Bremer Bank, enabling Hospice to purchase new LED lighting. We would like to acknowledge the annual contribution of Otter Tail Power Company in hanging the lights.

Recognition of the 2013 Reflections of Love contributions will be posted in the 18th Annual Mercy Hospice Reflections of Love event booklet, on the Mercy Hospital website: www.mercyhospitaldl.com and on the CHI Health Connect at Home website: www.CHIhealthconnectathome.com. The booklet is available by request please call the Mercy Hospital Foundation office at 701-662-9707.

Our goal is to provide a service of convenience for all who wish to contact us. You and your family’s needs are our top pri

ority. If you would like to schedule an appointment for services or drop off a delivery please call the toll free # 1-855-860-3464, which is answered 24/7. Mercy Hospice is honored to continue to serve families of the Devils Lake and surrounding area.
